THE 12TH GRADUATION CEREMONY
The Kenya Institute of Social Work held its 12th graduation ceremony on Saturday 24th September, 2011 at City hall, Nairobi.
The Chief Guest and Speaker was Prof. Dan Kaseje, the Vice Chancellor, Great Lakes University of Kisumu.
In his address to the graduands, he advised them to:
- Cherish the virtues of hard work
- Planning all activities in their lives
- Working with all regardless of their positions in life, the poor, the marginalized, the women and the youth.
- Always s to measure progress
In his address to the graduands the Director of programmes (Mr. Benjamin Mutie) advised the graduands to:
- Always accept the truth
- Always to make a promise to themselves and keep it.
- To be focused and to control their reaction to situations, events, people and emotions.
- To always reflect on the feelings and experiences that come along when achievements are made.
- To always maintain faith in whatever situation they will find themselves in.
In her address to the graduands, the Acting Principal of the institute Madam (Irene Mwilu) had the following advice to the graduands.
“Life is made of various phases; you are now embarking on a new phase of your life. Please be part of the global growth.”
She asked the graduands to leave a mark in the life of everyone they will meet regardless of their background. She reminded the graduands that the good reputation of KISWCD should be guarded at all the times even as they seek to make the world a better place to live.
In his speech to the graduands the Chairman of the Board of Governors (Prof. Mulinge Munyae) had the following to say to the graduands:
- He asked them to take charge of their lives as individuals
- He reminded them that it had taken them time and personal sacrifice to succeed in education
- He advised them to scan the environment carefully and identify opportunities that exist and make use of them.
- He asked the graduands to be good ambassadors of KISWCD wherever they will be serving humanity.
