This is a one and half year course whose objective is to equip students with skills and knowledge on patterns of diseases, organization and administration of different health services that may be provided to the community.
 


At the end of the course, students are expected to be skilled and knowledgeable in the following areas:

SEMESTER ONE

DCH 1601: Communication Skills and ICT 
DCH 1602: Introduction to Community Health                   
DCH 1603: Health Education and Promotion                       
DCH 1604: Basic Anatomy and Physiology                               
DCH 1605: Basic microbiology and parasitology     
DCH 1606: Social Research Methods
DCH 1607: HIV/AIDS as a National Disaster

SEMESTER TWO

DCH 1608: Nutrition and Dietetics                                       
DCH 1609: Counseling Skills   
DCH 1610: Environment and Health                                        
DCH 1611: Maternal and Child Health /Midwifery and Family Planning
DCH 1612: Community Participation and Motivation in Health Care Programmes      
DCH 1613: Control of Communicable Diseases
DCH 1614: Epidemiology

SEMESTER THREE

DCH 1615: Law and Community Health
DCH 1616: Health Management and Administration          
DCH 1617: Resource Mobilization, Management and Fundraising
DCH 1618: Bio Statistics
DCH 1619: Project Paper
DCH 1620: Practicum


• Minimum qualifications are KCSE C- or KCE Div. 2 or the equivalent.
• Certificate in Community development, Social development, Social work, Community   Health, Counseling and Psychology.
• Course open to Beginners, Development facilitators, Project managers and Fresh students
