This is a one and half year course, which is both theoretical and experiential.  It is designed for people who wish to gain understanding and critical insight into professional counselling.  This will require that they develop an extensive knowledge of counselling psychology, the applications of counselling and are able to demonstrate practical competence in counselling skills.

SEMESTER TWO
DCSE 1808: Group Counseling                             
DCSE 1809: Professional Studies                          
DCSE 1810: Seminar on HIV/AIDS                           
DCSE 1811: Marriage and Family Counselling       
DCSE 1812: Counseling Children, Youth & Adults          
DCSE 1813: Terminal Illness, Death and Dying     
DCSE 1814: Personality theories                 

SEMESTER THREE
DCSE 1815: Substance Abuse Rehabilitation        
DCSE 1816: Stress Management                    
DCSE 1817: Abnormal Psychology                                              
DCSE 1818: Psychological Assessment
DCSE 1819: Project
DCSE 1820: Practicum

 


• Minimum qualifications are KCSE C- or KCE Div. 2 or the equivalent
• Course open to beginners, Counsellors, Pastors, Church Elders, Community Health   Workers, Development facilitators, Project managers and Fresh students
