OBJECTIVES
Our objectives are;

  1. To develop a flamboyant teaching fraternity that has in-depth knowledge, skills and competence in the arena of ECDE and primary education
  2. Provide access to educational programmes and services that strengthen the economic, social, and cultural life of a diverse region.
  3. To produce/ train professionals with relevant skills necessary for initiating positive change in ECD and primary education
  4. To partner with relevant stakeholders in the Education sector to address the national goals of education in Kenya.

TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMMES AND ENTRY POINTS

  • P1 teacher training Requirements; aggregate of C plain in K.C.S.E
  • Certificate in Early Childhood Education (KCSE- D+)
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education (KCSE - C plain)
  • Proficiency certificate entry to Certificate (D plain)
  • Proficiency entry to Diploma is (C-)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Admission fee Kshs. 1000
  • Current and detailed Curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Application letter (hand written)
  • 3 colored passport size photographs (4mm horizontal;5 mm vertical)
  • 2 copies of national ID/passport
  • Doctors letter for those with health problems
  • Copies of academic Certificates/KCSE result slip
  • Birth Certificate

MODES OF STUDY

  • Full time  8.00am - 5.30pm every day
  • Part time /evening classes-5.30pm-7.30 pm
  • Weekend classes 8.00am-4.00pm (Saturdays)
  • Distance learning Programme
  • Holiday/School based Programme (April/August/December)

ACCOMMODATION

The college has hostels for both male and female students and the cost of accommodation and meals are met by the students.

FIELD ATTACHMENTS

It is mandatory for all KISWCD TTC students to go for a three months teaching practice
The college helps students in securing attachments in public and private schools and also at the MIT academy.
