23RD GRADUATION CEREMONY REPORT
The 23rd KISWCD Graduation Ceremony took place on Friday, 20th September 2024, at St. Andrew’s Hall, Nairobi, at 10:00 a.m. The event was graced by the Honourable Caroline Nzilani Ajuoga, Commissioner of the Judicial Service Commission. Also in attendance were members of the Board of Governors, led by Dr. Caroline Ayuya; the Director, Mr. Mutie; the Principal, Nancy Cheruto; staff members; invited guests; students; and parents.
In her remarks, the Chief Guest encouraged the graduands to continually enhance their knowledge, emphasizing that the future belongs to those who are prepared to shape it. She acknowledged the government’s efforts to empower students through initiatives like the Ajira Programme, the Uwezo Fund, and access to procurement opportunities, urging the graduates to take full advantage of these resources.
The Chief Guest further urged students to contribute to societal development through social change, political participation via digital platforms, environmental conservation, innovation, and skill development. She also reminded them that they would face various challenges ahead, including unemployment due to skill gaps, educational barriers, mental health issues, drug abuse, gender inequality, political instability, and economic disparities. She encouraged them to embrace their potential, remain resilient, seek mentorship, and pursue their dreams without limitations, building a clear vision for their future. She concluded with a quote from Margaret Mead: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
The Director, Mr. Mutie, thanked the Chief Guest for her presence and insightful remarks. He also shared that the institution is well-prepared to transition to CBET (Competency-Based Education and Training) courses starting next year. He expressed his appreciation for the establishment of TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) institutions, which provide valuable career opportunities for students. He also thanked the parents for their continued sacrifices to support their children’s education and success. Additionally, the Director commended the staff and students for their hard work in organizing the event, ensuring that the graduation ceremony was a success. He also acknowledged the Board members for their unwavering support of the institution’s activities.
